Twelve generations spanning over three centuries, the Sparr family tradition prides itself on a passion for passing on this history of Alsatian wine excellence.

For more than 3 centuries, the CHARLES SPARR family has been introducing the rich heritage of her “terroir” wines to the world.At the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace, the vineyard of thirty hectares stretches on various slopes, north to south from Riquewihr to Sigolsheim and Turckheim. These vineyards fascinate with their complexities, then their vine-growing potential. Deep roots lead the vine to the terroir and explore the varied sub-soils, conferring to the wine its personality and character. Varietal expression fades away and leaves in its place the specific identity of each soil. This network of differences, and contradictions, characterizes magnificently Alsace.

Since 1634 , The CHARLES SPARR Family has been writing the story of Alsace wines. Passionate wine growers, generation has succeeded generation and has perpetuated the passion for working the land and creating wine.

1861-1919 CHARLES SPARR Winegrower -Gourmet increases the surfaces of exploitation and sells throughout France and bordering countries.
1900-1976 PIERRE SPARR I developed a prosperous business in the wake of both World Wars, starting wider export sales of a range of fine wines, from the best soils in Alsace.
1934-2007 CHARLES SPARR II has enlarged the family vineyards and together with his brother René is perpetuating ancestral traditions, through a richly varied range of grape varieties and different soil areas. From the outset, they have been contributing to the advent of the Crémant d’Alsace and the famous Late Harvest wine.
1961-Today…PIERRE SPARR II Oenologist, has been leading the production of the family’s domain to rustained viticulture practices and is imposing strict specifications in order to raise quality levels to those required by the most demanding sales markets. Thus increasing sales to Northern Europe, North America and Asia.
Today…CHARLES SPARR III a graduate in Vine Growing, Oenology and Sales Management has set up the new operations centre in SIGOLSHEIM, in order to develop, along with his father, the company of the 21st century, in the heart of the Alsace Vineyards and this also focuses on the emblematic soils of the family’s wine production. . The meeting of CHARLES SPARR III with Amélie Buecher, become his wife, consolidate his passion and his vocation for the production of grapes and wine in biodynamic culture. A new page is about to be written for the greatest satisfaction of wine-lovers throughout the world
