With a commitment to brand quality based on ten principles of production which encompass their vineyard quality charter, the Devaux process has no equivalent in the region. Applied for decades by over 100 winegrowers to date, each Champagne bearing the Devaux signature owes much of its marked character to the utmost respect of this quality process and promise of true distinction.

Grande Réserve Brut NV

70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay

Floral notes with hints of stone fruits such as peach and apricot on the nose. Soft and delicate mousse. Fine, intense and complex palate with touch of yellow plum on the finish.

Cuvée Rosée Brut

80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay

Soft and ripe raspberries followed by aniseed notes. A lovely fresh and smooth mousse with a good balance and violet notes on the finish.

55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay

White blossom and soft spices appear first on the nose, mellowed by notes of toasted brioche and vanilla on the finish. Freshness with mandarin and orange zest notes.

Fresh aromas and superb minerality with a touch of crisp salinity (iodine notes), moving to white flower and spicy notes. Wonderful vivacity and excellent length on the palate. The low dosage enhances purity, freshness and elegance.

52% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir

Subtle and elegant aromas of white peaches and citrus zest are followed by light brioche notes. Fresh on opening, the palate evolves elegantly towards citrus notes, finishing on intense notes of dried fruit and pastry.

Champagne Devaux has been part of the legendary history of Champagne since the 19th century.

Founded in 1846 by brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, the house was then managed by three inspiring women who led the family winery with remarkable energy and talent in equal measure.
The first woman, Claude-Joseph Devaux (born Ducray), widowed at 39 years old, founded and managed the house “Maison Vve A. Devaux″ in 1846 in Epernay with her son François-Auguste. His wife, Augusta-Maria Herbin, was to become the second “Devaux widow″ following his death in 1879. She was in charge of the winery until 1895.

The DEVAUX brand quickly became successful. By the turn of the century, DEVAUX was exporting 75% of its production, notably to English-speaking countries, as well as Germany and Russia.

Then in 1907, following the death of Charles-Auguste Devaux, the third “Devaux widow” born Hussenot, took over the reins and managed the winery until her death in 1951 at the age of 80, thus concluding an extraordinary saga of “Champagne widows″. She was succeeded by her two sons.

The last in the Devaux line, Jean-Pol Auguste Devaux, was without an heir. As such, in 1987 he entrusted the future of Devaux – a brand with a prestigious past and an exciting future – to Laurent Gillet, President of the “Union Auboise”* (then supplier for the DEVAUX “Blanc de Noirs” champagne).

The Côte des Bar is situated in the south of the Champagne appellation (between Bar-sur-Seine and Bar-sur-Aube).This renowned vineyard area represents a quarter of the total Champagne production. The stunning rolling landscape belies soils and unique exposures ideal for Pinot noir, one of the key Champagne grape varieties.

All year long, our partner-growers give their best to obtain the highest quality grapes at harvest.

At DEVAUX, in order to perfect our work in the vineyards, we formulated – with the help of the vineyard managers – a new and unique approach to viticulture, a key consideration in our long-term vision.
This approach requires each grower to voluntarily follow a strict set of rules that go over-and-above the (already demanding) requirements set by the Appellation system. It is called the « D Selection » .

The winegrowers promise to respect the indications of the Devaux Champagnes commitment book (“livre d’engagement”).

This process has no equivalent in the Champagne region, especially because it has been applied for decades and by many people (more than 100 winegrowers to date).

Each champagne bearing the DEVAUX signature owes most of its character to the strict respect of this quality process.

Laurent Gillet

Son of a Champagne winegrower, Laurent Gillet quickly became involved in the industry at the end of his education in marketing and management at ESC business schools (REIMS and DIJON).

Since the early 80’s, he ran Champagne Wineries (Clérambault, DEVAUX and JACQUART*) which have all the specificity to be owned by winegrowers (co-op organization). This proximity with the vineyard is a key factor to his commitment to produce and supply authentic quality champagnes, which he consider as ‘’terroir interpreters”.

This dedication to excellence and exclusivity is the DNA of Champagne DEVAUX (a family house since the origin). particularly proud of “Collection D”; those “cuvées” represent the ultimate expression of the DEVAUX style that have been settled, 15 years ago, with the chief winemaker.
